Also, one more thing. Depending upon your development tools, (I use
Delphi/IBO/Asta), if you have persistent fields in data access components,
some of the datatypes could change and could throw an error in your
application.

Now, this brings up a good question for me. Our main application is
currently in dialect 1 (from IB 6 OE). We have right now about 800
customers on those (FB1.5 or FB1.51) versions and dialects, but would like
to start porting everyone over to Dialect 3 soon. Any advice on changing
the dialect in the least invasive manner?
