You didn't tell how is your import process, anyway, I would sugest to
you a few things:
1) Try FB 1.5.2
2) Disable all indexes and triggers before "importing" the data, and
reactivate them at the end of the proccess.
3) Be sure to commit from time to time during the import process.
You can try diferent values, like commit at every 1,000 insertions.
4) If you like to test, give FB 2.0 snapshot a try and see if it
causes some diference.
