Thanks for the fast reply Simon,
Sometimes it takes asking a question for you to realize the answer
by yourself. Unfortunatly, it wastes other people's time. Hopefully
someone else can learn from my mistake.
I did a "netstat -a -n" check and found that there wasn't anything
listening on port 3050. I then remembered that I disabled the WinXP
SP2 firewall only after the fb service was already running.
I restarted the service, port 3050 appeared in the netstat list,
and I was finally able to change the sysdba password.
