I don't have either Firebird Service set to start automatically.
I like that you suggested WMI. there is a lag when I start
WMI, and the query switch, on
"C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\bin\instsvc.exe" query
has just come to light, so I think I will parse instsvc output.
(if only it returned xml -- I could read the 'Status' direct)
