Hi Helen and Peter,

Thank you for your positive responses. My strengths are management consulting, business process engineering, project management and ERP planning and implementation. I have been in senior IT management roles, including ERP planning, training, change management and implementation. With knowledge of a variety of ERP's like SAP, Oracle, Navision Seibel etc. Unfortunately I am no longer hands on into hands on technology.

I switched form the corporate sector to Open Source and consulting. More satisfying and relevant. Especially for organizations on the wrong side of the digital divide.

If Open Source has to make its mark in application software and ERP, we need the cooperation in the following areas:

1. Management and BPR or business process re-engineering
2. Pre-sales evaluation of the software and "marketing". (This is a very competitive segment, with big well healed ERP firms hungry for business). A demo site, and training.
3. Project Management and Change management
4. Functional area consulting, like Marketing, Finance, logistics, manufacturing to re-engineer the business processes. Configure the sw and build prototypes or pilots. Map them to the processes supported by the ERP, and develop a gap analysis specifying the requirements to be added/customized.
5.Technical acumen, of design, development and testing of the customizations/extensions.
6. Training users, data conversion/migration from legacy systems (including old manual systems)
7. System maintenance, Helpdesk support.

It is obvious that the this needs a diverse skill-set. It is unlikely that one person, or a small group could do all these activities. I am comfortable in the areas 1 to 4, and look forward to collaboration for the other areas. If someone on this list , or the Compiere list can help, I would like to host a small demo site, so interested people can see Fyracle+ Compiere in action. I need help in doing a remote install of Firebird and the Compiere part on the Server.

Vipen

PS I was in touch with Paul, from Janus.

The good news for you is that we are already "cooperating", through our
contact with the developer of Fyracle, Paul Ruizendahl. Paul has a demo
available already. Link through to both Fyracle and Compiere from here:
