It's been in the FreeBSD Ports tree for about 4 years.

to build Firebird from source:
update your ports tree(see the FreeBSD handbook)
cd /usr/ports/databases/firebird
make install

to install a precompiled binary from FreeBSD's collection:
pkg_add -r firebird

to install a precompiled binary from your own collection(including downloads
from firebird's site)
pkg_add firebird*.tgz

Too easy...
