I can vouch for FreeBSD running Firebird.

We were soak testing some machines, and FreeBSD held up under a load average
of ~140, RedHat 8 fell over at load average ~9...
(Dual P3 500MHz, Epox KP6-BS, 512MB PC100 SDRAM)

Naturally, it slowed down, but you can't kill it.
In fact, that machine hasn't been logged into in a year - might go check the
diskspace.
It's running our:
internal web-based mail
CRM system
Timesheeting
asset management and software license system
(200 users, 380 desktops)

Apart from the soak test, I haven't used Linux since 1998...is that bad?
