Hi Daniel,

with Gentoo check the use-flag "inetd" in /etc/make.conf
then emerge -vauD firebox (will probably install xinetd) and check the
configs from xinetd for options like "disabled = yes"

And yes - the classic style is even with many users much faster on modern
hardware with SMP/HT..
