The first one is difficult to implement w/o major overhaul of existing code
(and somehow making developers to code better than they did before which is
not that easy.)
The second one is available in the user documentation anyway. Actually, user
documentation usually provides a lot of details about solutions used to build
a database - open source is not required for that. As an example take a look
into configurable parameters descriptions: such descriptions usually have to
discover RDBMS internals, one way or another.
If FB happens to invent some ingenious RDBMS designs, algorithms or features
then those are covered by the license ("intelectual property", etc), isn't
it?
