Actually, that is not quite true. Just 'sort of' true. Let me explain.

Firstly, it is true that classic on Win32 is a new thing*. It hasn't been
tested as thoroughly although the developers have no problems with it.

Secondly, it is true that it is marked 'experimental'. Experimental is
probably the wrong word. I'm open to better suggestions. There are two
reasons I suggested it should be marked as experimental - it is
relatively new, as I said earlier. It is also lacking support from some
user interface tools. We can't, at the moment, use the guardian or the
control panel to shut a classic server down when it is running as an
application. This means that it is less manageable than SuperServer.

We'll get these shortcomings fixed for Fb 1.6. It will then be a lot
easier to encourage wider use. So it is preferable, for the time being,
that it is not blindly used by inexperienced users.


*New in the sense that IB v4.1 was the last/only version of IB Classic
server for Windows back around 1995. A lot has changed in the last eight
or nine years.
