RC6 has improved instreg and instsvc tools. If they are executed on the
commandline you will see the correct syntax for calling them from a batch
file (or InnoSetup). They have changed significantly since RC5, so any work
you do with RC5 will break when you use the newer versions. This is a good
practical example why you shouldn't use a release candidate once it has been
superceded.
The official InnoSetup script will be committed to the source tree shortly. (I
know, I've been saying this for a while now, but I'm reasonably sure that all
the bugs are shaken out.) You might want to want wait for it as it will
provide a better foundation than the one used for RC4.
