Chuck,
I think that what you need is Firebird Embebbed. Take a look, there is a RC
in Firebird web site ready to download.
If you don't want to use a RC, I think that you must change that idea. You
need the registry keys in Firebird 1.0.
You can never know if someones else application will need to use Firebird or
Interbase, so it's really better to install the server on standard way.
