Well,

Thats an idea.
So I went to the FreeBSD site and the ibphoenix.

Seems to be out of sync. FreeBSD is at 4.8 stable and ibphoenix only has downloads for 4.3, 4.4 and 5.0

Which combination would you suggest.

TIA
GK

One thing to remember - Linux isn't the only Open-Source Unix(like) OS that
Firebird SQL performs very well on.

You could install FreeBSD, with a minimal install set(110MB footprint), and
to install Firebird, type the following(as root):

pkg_add -r firebird

Wohaa. 10 minute database server!
