Hello,
I have installed FB 1.0 on a Windows NT4 server.
The server is running WINS service.
Some Win2K clent worstations had no problem connecting to this
server, but some other took up to two minutes to establish the
connection!
The client program is written with Delphi 6 and IBX.
The connection string I used was something like :
10.0.0.2:H:\Databases\data.fdb
We have found that changing this connection string to
SERVER1:H:\Databases\data.fdb
resolved the problem: the connection is now very fast. Does Firebird
try to resolve the IP addresse as if it was a NetBios name ?
I'm confused, does anyone have an explanation for this rather
unexpected result?
Best Regards,
V. Schmid
