Hello,

at our company we use FB1.0 as IB6 replacement on win2k and are very
happy
with it. The application which uses the DB is unlikely to evolve much in
the future as it's nearly at end-of-life state from it's developing
company.
This app is however very important for us and we use php with the
interbase-extension from our apache/linux intranet to exploit it's data
ever more.

As the app will not evolve (and btw it's a 16bit thing that uses bde16
and connects to FB via gds.dll from 1995) we rely on the FB1.0 branch.

I plan to upgrade to FB1.5 ass soon as possible, first tests were
positive.


Now my questions:

- Will FB1.5 replace the 1.0 branch and receive bugfixes/security
updates in the future (even when FB2.0 wil lbe around)?

- Will FB1.5 stay compatible with the 16bit bde through gds.dll?
(somehow I feel bad asking this question in 2003... dunno why...;)
