Thanks for the replies. It was indeed an indexing thing. My only
excuse for not trying that already was that I was testing the brute-
force strength of Firebird for comparison purposes.

Sorry to not have responded sooner, but my original reply was
written in Outlook pointing at a mirror site and disappeared into
the ether. It seems posting has to be done in Yahoo.
