Hello Louis,
extensions (gdb being one of them, but not fdb) will be automatically
backed-up by the OS everytime they are opened or written to. (I don't
know _exactly_ when XP makes the backups but I think it's every time
they are written to, because gdb databases are reported to almost
grind to a standstill, which wouldn't happen if they were only copied
upon opening.)
