Well, I did tried -kill option. :-)

Also, "gfix /?" returns -kill as 'kill all unavailable shadow files'

I think this option was created in case we have some problem with the shadow
file, and we just want the engine to stop using it, without any care for the
shadow state.

Yeap, this is the question. I think this implementation is just 'stop using
it'.
