Artur,
I said you "could" create the shadow and detach it without stopping
the database. As you point out, it wouldn't be very worthwhile since
the detached shadow file is deleted. I was thinking more of how much
making the copy would interfere with regular processing than of a
practical solution. Though, of course, it would be reasonably simple to
add a new trick to gfix/engine to detach the shadow without deleting the
file.
