Disregard, what I just posted. I understand the question now.
You
are right Helen, I think the only step he's missing is to COMMIT
the
view. And, when he sees the compile was successful, he should
be
seeing the COMMIT button on that form.

Actually, with IBExpert, after I construct the view definition,
I can click the 'Compile' button to compile it, but after that
there's no 'Commit' allowed. The 'Commit' button is disabled.
That was the problem I faced. This doesn't happen with a table,
however. When I construct a table, I can compile its definition
and then 'Commit' it. Since I couldn't do it with a View, I was
confused. But I finally located the SQL Editor in one of the
menu options, and used it to execute and then 'Commit' the View
definition.
