Hi Mike,
Others already answer your question, this is just to give you some advice.
This is just a reminder to other subject: keep in mind, in your application,
that the IBServer is not exclusive of your application. You should always
think that the Interbase/Firebird server is there to any aaplication that
wants to use it, not only yours.
The recommended way is to create a user, that owns the database. Your
application should check if there is already a Ib/Fb server running on the
machine, and if it is it should ask for the sysdba password, so you can
create your user with the password you define, and go on.
The sysdba password should be something that your client needs to know, not
you or your application. :-)
If you follow this procedure, you will have the warranty that your
application will never interfere with other applications that use the same
server.
