Hello again,
I want to try a development environment with Access 2000 and Firebird as I
told you before.
I visited Mr. Valderrama's web site and from there I read about XTG's ODBC
driver. Downloaded and installed it.
The problem I found is it doesn't work with dates. No matter what format you
use it always returns an out of range ODBC error. One thing I noted is it
interpretes date fields as strings of 255 characters.
Then I downloaded Mr. Starkey's driver, linked the FB tables, tried to
insert data in the table view and through a query on them, but I couldn't as
the linked tables are read only objects for the driver. This would leave me
opening and closing sessions with the database in the code to perform
queries to retrieve and update ODBC data, a lenghty alternative when
compared with the automatic Access's mechanisms.
What is our suggestion for a free ODBC driver for FB ?. It must be free as I
can't use my CCs to buy anything in US$ due to the actual restrictions in
this country.
