You might be wanting to do this on a regular basis (i.e. import from
external data) or on a one off basis. There are good ways to do both.
Do you have some of the good tools available for datapumping? If not - have
a poke around, IBExpert uses the clever components datapump which is
excellent. There is also a metadata comparer.

These tools could make you life a lot easier - they have switches for
resetting/suspending generators during/after the pump etc. You can have a
lot of fun getting the pump scenario right, then save it and use it over and
over during development.
