Subject Re: [ib-support] Connection Refused

Oh for a world without customers <bg>

The 'expert' on site had managed to disable the server, and
then get round the problem by getting the IP address of the
server to point to another machine, so when I went in
locally I was actually looking at a backup server.

SO when the failure message says "Connection Actively
Refused" it could mean that the server is simply not running
on that machine. ( "Port not available" would make much more
sence but then what do we expect ... ).

I'd assumed a security problem because the system had been
running with Novell addresses and the network would not
supply IP addresses - A job for another day - the problem
database is running nicely again!
