What you really need Grant is a set of documents - at the IBPhoenix site,
there is a set of pdf docs which will guide you thru all this kind of stuff.
Take a look at the quick start guide, the FAQ, and the Interbase 6.0
Documentation sets - they are still current for Firebird.
