Hi all,
We have released new FB 1.5 RC7 (all-in-one) package for Linux that uses
completely new installation script and scheme, that (hopefully) solve all
troubles you may face when installing FB on any Linux distribution.
This package contains the same binaries as other released RC7 packages
for Linux, so it differ only in installation procedure with next main
features:
- Interactive [Default] or automatic installation
- Many command-line options for fine-grained, full or semi-automatic
installation
- All-in-one install: Classic or Super Server or Client only
- Optional packages: examples, doc, libraries, additional tools
- Detects previous installation of InterBase or Firebird 1.0/1.5
- Retain security database, config file, gdsintl2 and user UDF libs from
previous installation
- Retain run user (firebird only) and service port from previous config
- Configurable run user and service port settings
- Optional full backup of previous installation
- Seamless uninstallation of previous installation (direct or by RPM)
- Optional [on by default] creation of uninstallation script
- Optional change of SYSDBA password (interactive mode only)
We'd like encourage all FB Linux users to try it out and report back
their experience. Stress testing in various conditions is appreciated,
and any suggestions for further improvements are welcome!
FIRST READ INCLUDED README, PLEASE !!!
You can download it from:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/firebird/Firebird-1.5.0.4027-RC7-
