peppe,
back to you.
portuguese, and I remember very well to see it mention about the new CS for
Windows. Differences between CS e SS have been discussed on this list, so if
you seek for the messages in this last days you will find a link to an
IBPhoenix doc about it.
CS is new in windows, and it has some limitations - local connections. In
Linux, we have the two versions in Firebird 1. CS is a new thing in Win
environments. Now you have to choose between the two versions. [I forgoto
this: CS is Classic Server - SS is SuperServer].
it will install SS as default (but you may choose to install CS as well), so
you will not notice this.
One of the reasons that Firebird take so long to pass from RC to Finnal is
this: people want to make sure backward compability will be there.
Firebird 1.5 resolves an old bug with parameter order. This has been discuss
a lot on IBO list, since IBO had a 'turn around' for the bug. You must
change a parameter (or just check it, I don't remember what is the default)
in firebird.conf to allow it to behave the old way.
As you can see, "upgrade" problems have been discussed here, and they are in
Release Notes. Quite different from M$, that usually hides the bug
discussions. :-)
Remember that we had some problems fixing bugs in Firebird 1 (I'm thinking
about ambigous querys), and sometimes people fixed there application to use
the new features. I remember a small correction in IBO code to remove
TableName.Field, that Jason provided in 24 hours, to allow IBO applications
to be recompiled to work.
Evolution as always a cost. :-)
