Subject Speed and RAM
Author Michael Vilhelmsen
Hi

I have a customer site, where there is a DB server running Windows
2000 with FB 1.0.3 installed.
The server has 512 Mb RAM.
The DB is some 1,5 Gb.
It supports usually 20 - 30 users at the same time.

The speed seems to drop during the day.
I have through some time now kept an eye on OT, OAT etc.
The gab between those never grows larger than 1500.
It once did, but I then did some rewriting in my program, and that
helped a lot.

Now my question is this.
On the DB server I can see in the taskmanager that there is 512 Mb of
RAM, but only 1 - 2 Mb available.
In my opinion this means that the server is doing a lot a swaping to
the swapfile.

I Think I would gain some speed by upgrading this server to have i.e.
2 Gb of RAM.
Or ??

Michael
