Subject gsec error with FB 1.0.2
Author Thad Humphries
I have successfully ported over 32K lines of Oracle Embedded SQL to
Firebird. My application runs just fine on RedHat Linux 6.2 and 7.3
with Firebird 1.0.0. Now I'm trying to set up Firebird 1.0.2 on the
RedHat Linux 7.3 box but cannot add users.

I ran FirebirdSS-1.0.2.908-0.i386.rpm as root and installed to
/opt/intebase. I added the user firebird (uid 900) and added firebird
to /etc/group dba (gid 600). I then ran `chown -r firebird:dba
/opt/interbase`, all as I had done with 1.0.0. I added the environment
variables

INTERBASE=/opt/interbase
ISC_USER=SYSDBA
ISC_PASSWORD=firebird

and added $INTERBASE/bin to my path. I ran /etc/rc.d/init.d/firebird
and I can see the ibserver processes running.

Now I try to add myself to Firebird via gsec:

$ gsec -user sysdba -password masterkey -add thad -pw frE8Er -uid 200 \
-gid 200 -fname Firebird -lname Administrator Your user name and
password are not defined. Ask your database administrator to set up a
Firebird login. unable to open database

What is this?? I thought sysdba the top dog? And 'masterkey' is most
certainly the SYSDBA password given in /opt/interbase/SYSDBA.password.

When I remove the FB 1.0.2 and put FB 1.0.0 on--following *the* **same**
procedure as above--gsec works.

Can anyone help me?
