As some of you will have noted the News server was off-line for the last
24-36 hours (this is in addition to the shutdown which occurred some 2-3
weeks ago)

There seems to be an intermitent power problem in our server room, which
results in the news server (along which some other servers) temporarily
losing power.

While, in most cases, this would be a minor anoyance which would not
affect most users, as the server would restart when power was restored.


Unfortunately, the news server server is an old P-90 which does not
restart automatically on power restore, it requires that someone press
the power button ;-((((

All of this is to say that we apologize for the problems this is
creating for users and that we are working to:

a) resolve the power/UPS problems

b) configure a new news server
