I just had a customer call me who is using FB 1. After going through his
settings, I found that he was connecting to the database from a client, via
a network-mapped drive. For instance:
Data file on server is C:\mydata\datafile.fdb
On the client, the server's C: drive is mapped to drive T:.
The client uses the following connect string:
T:\mydata\datafile.fdb
I thought that this had been disabled in Firebird??? I stopped warning my
customers about not doing this because that pitfall had been fixed. It
appears that it has not been fixed, or my customer found some way around it.
Their server is running Windows 2000 Server. The client is Windows XP,
logged on as Administrator.
Any ideas? Or was I wrong about this having been disabled.
