Actually, Jed, it's very simple:
* Shutdown your IB server
* Locate and edit your IBCONFIG file
* Add the following lines (note, these are undocumented settings and
not included by default):
#SERVER_MAGIC_WAND 1
#SERVER_READ_DBADMIN_MIND 1
#DBADMIN_READ_DOCS_FIRST 0
#DBADMIN_SEARCH_BEFORE_POST 0
#SHAKE_HEAD_FACTOR 32767
Yes, *I am joking* :-) There is no magic configuration file. One of
the joys of Interbase is its 'set and forget' approach. In most
circumstances you don't need to tweak the default settings. As
Lester points out, IB/FB is built to be an enterprise RDBMS right out
of the box.
However, if you do want to understand what settings can be tweaked
(at your own risk) then look at the IBCONFIG file and study the
section SERVER CONFIGURATION in the manual OPGUIDE.PDF.
Once you know it bit from this then you can search this group's
archives, google, and the myriad of other technical resources
described at www.ibphoenix.com, etc.
HTH.

Andrew Ferguson
