If the server is on a SMP machine, make sure the CPU affinity is set to a
single processor. Windows doesn't behave well with InterBase/Firebird when
there are multiple processors...

You might also need to experiment with reconfiguring the database cache
using the gfix utility - see the Operations Guide for instructions.

Apart from that, you should post an example of a query that causes this
behaviour...and also describe what kind of application interface you are
using where this behaviour occurs.
