just a small question:

Why can't I create a user in ISC4.GDB whose name
contains German umlauts ("äüö")?

I always get the following error:

arithmetic exception, numeric overflow or string truncation
Cannot transliterate between character sets.

I think this should at least work with the columns
FIRST_NAME and LAST_NAME. They are defined as
CHARSET UNICODE_FSS which AFAIU supports German
umlauts.
