what does this error mean:

Fatal lock manager error: semop failed (acquire), errno: 43

How can I avoid it?

System environment is a Firebird Clasic Server version 1.0 (build 796)
on a SMP machine under Linux kernel version 2.2.14 with about 20 open
connenctions.
