Also check /etc/xinetd.conf to make sure it DOESN'T have a line that refers
to the gds_db service - superserver listens to port 3050 through ibserver
and, if it's listening through xinetd as well, you won't get a connection.

If need be, comment out the line in question, then kill and restart xinetd.
