Subject Re: [ib-support] IB & Firebird connection (Non BDE recommendation req)

If you have existing BDE applications, then switch to Interbase Objects
(IBO - www.ibobjects.com), follow the recipe for migrating BDE applications
and have your programs work in no time. Last month a new user (Joe
Martinez) migrated to IBO and after spending one day installing IBO and 30
minutes converting his program, he wrote: "To anyone who is still using the
BDE, I STRONGLY urge you to make the switch to IBObjects. As I said, I've
been putting this off for the past year, because I was afraid that it would
be a huge headache. Now that I know how easy it is, I'm kicking myself for
not having done it earlier!"

IBO is a great set of tools and the only ever winner of the Best Database
Connectivity Award from Delphi Informant. It works with Delphi and Borland
C++ Builder (various versions), but only with Interbase or Firebird databases.

There are alternatives to IBO (FIB+ etc), but no-one that can compete with
it regarding migration from the BDE and it will be very difficult for you
to find any component set equally reliable and fast.
