We do it since about two years. The is only one issue to mention: If you
are using external files, you cannot use the same directory names for
both OS. These names are stored in the backup. So you must set the
parameter EXTERNAL_FILE_DIRECTORY to the correct value. Be aware: Not
all versions of FB supports this parameter but version 1.0.0 build 796 does.

Under Linux you should see a reduced memory consumption for the FB
server processes and a better performance.
