The sparc version continues, and probably will continue as long as Sun develop their own processors. But they see no value in maintaining a parallel version of the OS that runs on Intel h/w. They are a h/w company, after all, and Solaris on Intel didn't actually help directly _sell_ sparc boxes, although it has been argued that it familiarised potential buyers with the Solaris environment.
