Subject Re: [ib-support] SHRINK SIZE DATABASE
Author Martijn Tonies
Hi,

What is the system log you're talking about?

As for the file size -- files cannot be made smaller. Simple as that. To
create a smaller size (in every application), the original file gets deleted
and a new file with new (smaller) data is created.

To do the same for a database file, you need to create a backup and restore
it. But there's no real need in a production environment: Firebird/InterBase
will re-use the empty space inside the (large) file - give it a try, insert
a lot of new records and you will notice that the file doesn't grow (or at
least not a lot).
