Delphi 1 is 16-bit, anyway, and (by my recollection) cannot address the NTFS
filesystem.
Delphi, like most high-level programs, doesn't care about the file system.
My machine uses NT4 with NTFS. Inside NT, I have installed VMWare. On a
VMWare virtual machine, I installed NT4 again, formatted with NTFS. Inside
that, I installed Delphi 1, the 16-bit BDE and there're no adverse symptoms.
From that virtual machine, I connect the 16-bit BDE to the "real", outer NT
running Firebird, while using the "real" machine also to connect to the same
db with a Delphi 3 made program.
