Subject Installing Firebird on Linux
Author Jeff Rasnick
Greetings-

I am running in to problems installing Firebird on a Corel Linux box of a customer.

Here are some specs of that box:
Corel Linux OS
Version: 1.1.2
Release: 2.2.12

The problem I have is starting the IBServer. I extract the tarball (dowloaded from IBPhoenix.com) and then run the install.sh script. The only error that pops up is "fillup not found. If you use SuSE, then this should not happen. Please check /etc/rc.config and /var/adm/fullup-templates/rc.config.firebird and update by hand" Then the message comes up that installation is complete. All the files and directories are in the correct places (/opt/interbase), but when I try to run:

/opt/interbase/bin/ibmgr -start or
/opt/interbase/bin/ibmgr -user SYSDBA -pass masterkey -start

I recieve the error:
Segmentation Fault

I am running this as the root user, and don't have much experience with Linux. Although I have installed Firebird on a SuSE and Mandrake box.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could do to get the server to start???

Thanks in advance for any information,
Jeff
