Hello,
I am evaluating Firebird and have a really weird problem.
I have created a database which has been tested on my desktop machine
and works OK.
This test consisted of using IB-Console to connect to the db and
using Interactive SQL to update tables. All worked fine.
Then I connected a Java application via InterClient 2.01 and again
all worked well, (the app runs locally).
The application is written in JBuilder5 using JDK1.3 and has been in
use for sometime with MS Access and MYSQL dbs. My desktop is Win98
with TCP/IP network.
The problem comes when I attempt to point this application at exactly
the same database but on a networked server. The "server" is in fact
another desktop running Win95.
I can use the remote database through IB-Console just as if it's
local but when I launch my application I get the following message : -
"interbase.interclient.SQLException:[interclient][interbase]
invalid BLOB handle"
The really worrying thing here is that when I click the OK button on
the error message dialog, the database file (the gdb file) is
deleted - with no recourse or warning !
Any pointers would really be appreciated !
Thanks
Stephen Carpenter.
