I've been checking this out and it looks like there is a problem in the
Linux Server build.
Using a test application, IBX and the Delphi debugger, the Windows build
works fine but both 32 bit and 64 bit I/O Linux versions appear to break in
the Services API when isc_service_start is called for the Security Service
(it may also be true for others but I haven't checked this out). The error
message returned is "unrecognized database parameter block unable to open
database". The Server does not crash and can service other requests.
This seems to be a hard error with the Server installed on SuSe Linux on a
clean test machine using the standard install script.
Rather disconcertingly, the Linux installation script gives a warning
message during the installation "EXCEPTION in ../SRC/services.c, line 299
concerning file not opened". I have no idea where this is coming from but it
does seem like it could be relevant.
My guess is that the request block is not in the format expected by the
server - perhaps because of byte alignment mis-match. Was a different
compiler version or set of compiler parameters used for this build?
