The default installation should have put the Firebird root in C:\Program
Files\Firebird\ Yours looks different...
A mapped drive or share won't work at all. TCP/IP doesn't know about
mappings, etc. in the NetBEUI network.
You haven't mentioned the tool you are using to connect. Perhaps it is one
where you have to indicate the protocol.
Are you sure that the client has the right version of gds32.dll
installed? It needs to be the one out of the build 794 kit, otherwise the
client won't know which port to listen to.
