Subject RE: [ib-support] Calculated Fields

good question - they're all valid ways
I try to be consistent whichever way I start.
My gut has been:
generally where the calculation is done once per record, the server is a
good place
if the record is going to continue to get edited via UI and recalced I let
the frontend do all calcs
I use a select method to calc only where I am building a readonly browse
grid with values for say summaries

Subject: [ib-support] Calculated Fields

Which would be the vantages/disvantages using the followings approaches to
implement calculated fields?

1. Calculated field implemented on the database with COMPUTED BY clause.
2. Get the calculated value with an expression in the SELECT clause.
3. Implement the calculated field in the client application.

Thanks.
