The problem is that XP makes a backup of .gdb-files before allowing
Firebird/Interbase access them. The quick solution is to use a different
extention - e.g. .fdb. Quite a while back someone figured out a way to stop
XP from backing up .gdb files, but that was a more complicated procedure
involving going into security mode, removing .gdb from a file, save the
file under a different name, restart and use the file to overwrite a
different file. I'm sure I've mixed up this explanation, what I remember
from reading about it was that my impression was that it was a lot of
trouble to go through simply to avoid renaming files. The solution I have
adapted and found to work in every situation, is to never use XP ;o)
