On XP files with the extension .GDB are incrementally backed causing a
massive slowdown. Your DB's need a different extension, I use FDB for
Firebird & Borland recommend .IB for Interbase. The only problem then is
isc4.gdb, which I live with until FB 1.5 comes out when you will be able to
use aliases to rename the file.
You can exclude .GDB in XP prof, but I don't bother. The only problem I
have now is a slow disconnect sometimes, but general perf is fine.
