Tell him that maybe instead of giving his comments on everything, he
should try learning something new. Sounds like he's just too lazy or
unqualified, and he's firing off comments to make himself look better
at your expense. A good boss would see through that, but sometimes
they need this pointed out to them (in a subtle way, if you go in there
with comments against him you'll only strengthen his impression even
more).
