Raymond,
First, regarding your long list of questions, might I gently suggest
that you review the existing documentation for some of these items.
Additionally, if you go to the IBPhoenix web site, they have a new
search functions that allows for search in the old MERS Interbase list
as well as the IB-Support archives...
Now for your question:
release. The aliases are defined at the server side, such that the
client would simply use the connection string "server:aliasname" and the
IB server ('server:') will then resolve the alias ('aliasname') using
the "FBAlias.conf" file.
